Middleton Community Endowment (MCE)

Mission of the Middleton Community Endowment

Middleton Community Endowment (MCE) was established in 2007 and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the Middleton area for present and future generations.  Earnings on the endowment will be available in perpetuity to support the Middleton Community.

MCE will accomplish its mission by:

  • Building permanent endowment resources
  • Identifying and supporting important community assets and opportunities
  • Responding to community needs
  • Promoting philanthropy within Middleton

MCE History

MCE originated as the Middleton Community Foundation in 1991.  It was established by Mayor Dan Ramsey with $25,000 in resources.  From 1991-2007 the Middleton Community Foundation supported many worthwhile activities and grew to $32,000.  In 2007, recognizing the administrative challenges of operating the Foundation and the opportunity to grow the endowment, the Foundation accepted a $50,000 challenge grant from the Madison Community Foundation (MCF).  Together with MCF, the principal of the fund was grown to $150,000 and is now administered by MCF for the benefit of Middleton.

Additional endowments can be created within the MCE to benefit specific charitable causes such as schools, churches, parks and other non-profit institutions.

Individuals may also set up donor-advised endowment funds that they can direct distributions from.  This provides families an opportunity to build a legacy that will serve their community for generations-to-come.

Receive

MCE will accept grant requests from qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.  Key interest areas include: cultural enrichment, community development, education, natural and historic preservation and the needs of residents in the Middleton area.
