Community and food pantry garden organizers are invited to apply for grants in a new program encouraging growth of fresh vegetables to be donated to hunger relief agencies.
The Madison Community Foundation is making grants of up to $3,000 available through the Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin.
New or existing community gardens or food pantry gardens in Dane County, or gardens that will partner with and contribute garden produce to one or more local hunger relief agencies are eligible.
Groups can use original plans to grow, harvest and deliver all or a portion of their fresh vegetables to a hunger relief agency (food pantry, meal site) or use a plan based on the Plant a Row for the Hungry model of designing specific rows of vegetables within the garden to be grown for donation.
